Riots over Championships?

As long as I live I will never understand the idea of celebrating a wonderful event by destroying the very city you live in. I understand the excitement garnered by winning an NBA championship but rioting, Really? See you have to understand rioting has usually been used to express deep seeded problems throughout our country's history. Like the LA riots to express the anger of poverty, police brutality among other issues that the city still deals with today. Or the riots following Dr. King's assassination, expressing the the people's displeasure with killing a man who was the poster child for non violence. But to riot because a group of multi million dollar athletes hoist a trophy at the end of a long season. We have to really ask ourselves are we saying that the death of a man like JFK or Malcolm X is equal in importance to the Lakers winning the NBA Championship? Whatever your conclusion, let's begin to place importance on the things that really need it. Poverty, Crime, Disease, Tyranny all can use someone to speak out against it. So take your championship banners, hats, T shirts and excitement and make your community a better place to live. If we all chip in the World would be the place that we deserve it to be. Just a thought. Support your local, National and international charities;)
